On the International Women Day (8th March), British Kashmiris and Pakistanis organised a powerful protest in London.
With a large participation representing diverse cultures and nationalities from around the world, the concerned crowd have gathered outside the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Office, 10 Downing Street, becoming one voice for the rights of oppressed women in Kashmir, Palestine and every woman in the world.
Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK’s President Raja Fahim Kayani, reminded everyone about the alarming facts that currently ongoing in Kashmir and highlighted the statistics as stating: ‘The Indian brutal forces have widowed 22,911 women; gang raped, molested 11,179 women; and up till now around 107,784 children have become the orphans in the region... Furthermore, India has deployed a massive number of army troops into Jammu and Kashmir using rape as a weapon of war, with a media/internet blackout and gross violations of human rights. Unfortunately, these are the alarming facts and they are still being ignored by some International Organizations’.
The Daughters of Kashmir Organisation’s Chairperson Ms. Zubaida Khan also reminded everyone that “The Indian army is still committing the worst human rights abuses in the occupied valley of Kashmir and the women’s rights are being taken away from them”. Ms Khan also called the international communities and the humanitarian organizations to step in and raise the voice of besieged Kashmiri Women as well.
Standing with the protestors in front of the 10 Downing St. London, human rights activists Claire Bidwell, Zanaib Khan, Tazeem Jaffari and Rani Arif also pointed out that ‘They are here to continue to give a voice for the voiceless women around the world; especially those are currently suffering under Indian siege, in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir’.
With the participants’ chanting their slogans about persecution of Kashmiri women and children in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the peaceful protest in London being completed in calmly manner.
